(7) Before the start of operation, each operator of a common biomedical waste treatment facility must set up the necessary biomedical treatment facilities, such as the incinerator, autoclave or microwave, crushing and wastewater treatment facility as part of the treatment. Prior to this notification, AIIMS had followed the biomedical waste management and management rules communicated by the same department in 1998. Currently, AIIMS biomedical waste management is outsourced to a common biomedical management centre, M/S Biotic Waste Solutions Pvt. Ltd. 2. Any occupant of the facility that produces, collects, stores and processes biomedical waste, with the exception of the occupants of clinics, blood banks, pharmacies and pathological laboratories who provide monthly care to 1,000 patients, may apply for authorization.
