PEA employees and excluded workers have the choice of being reimbursed as described above or may choose to acquire an additional five working days` leave. Your number of days off depends on your bargaining unit, your employment status, the number of hours you work and the number of years you have spent in the BC Public Service. Leave years are defined as the period from 1 January to 31 December. Starting with the 2010 vacation year, an additional day off (based on a seven-hour workday) will be granted to employees who live and work at one of the following isolated sites in British Columbia: auxiliary workers begin to enter into annual leave once they have completed 1,827 hours in 33 consecutive payment periods. Before reaching this hourly requirement, they receive vacation pay equal to 6% of their regular income on each bi-annual paycheck. You can also take leave without pay for up to 15 working days (maximum 105 hours) after six months of work. Annual leave for regular full-time workers is as follows: for example, a regular employee hired part-time this year would be until December 31 for his first partial year. As of January 1 of next year, the employee is in his first year of leave, as this is the year in which he celebrates his first anniversary of employment. An employee`s first vacation year is the calendar year in which they celebrate the first anniversary of their employment with the BC Public Service. Employees recruited in a calendar year earn leave for that first partial year.

The rate at which leave is earned in the first year is set out in the collective agreement or working conditions. The number of days of leave you have is based on the bargaining unit, your employment status and the number of years you have spent in the BC Public Service. For more information, see Annual residence permit. All employees should plan their earned vacation days and take them accordingly. Each work unit has different requirements and operating processes for leave planning. Talk to your supervisor or supervisor about how and when you should plan deserved free time. Check your holiday balance in the Employee Self Service. People on leave should only be asked to return to the workplace if absolutely necessary, which means that not all alternatives are feasible. An employee who engages in this situation will be offered the following remuneration: all employees are expected to take their leave each year. Leave at the end of the year that overlaps with the new year is considered to be entitlement to leave from the year in which the holiday began. To help you plan off days, read the calendar of statutory holidays. .
