Purple Polar Bear 1st Birthday Party

February 11, 2013

We celebrated our baby girl’s first birthday this weekend with a huge birthday bash!  She’s our only girl, so we HAD to go all out!!  The theme was purple polar bears and everything turned out great!  Below is my family before the party.  My sons were even excited to get all dressed up in purple and picked out their own outfits.  So cute!

The cake table was the central focal point for the party.  It was covered with purple goodies!  All of the desserts were made by Sherry McClure of Cake Connection.  She made a gorgeous cake, mini cupcakes, sugar cookies, cake pops and chocolate mousse.  Yummy!!

I designed all of the printables so that they would match the theme!  We had banners, food labels, cupcake toppers, etc. that all matched.  So cute!

Over the past year, I have taken SO many photos of baby Stella, so we used some of those photos as centerpieces for the tables along with gorgeous flower arrangements that were made by a friend.  The table linens were rented from Party Time Rental.

The clubhouse where we had the party had 30 foot ceilings and lots of blank wall space, so we ordered poster sized photos from Vista Print.  They turned out great.

The guests were given sugar cookies made by Stone House Oven and Hershey’s bars made by

We hung a photo banner using photos from each month, clothes pins and some tulle.

Gorgeous flowers

I made her a birthday hat using a DIY tutorial.

Purple straws were purchased from Drowning In Paper.

We had a craft table for the kids.  They were able to make a polar bear mask purchased at Oriental Trading Company and decorate a photo frame.

It was such a great celebration of life and adoption.  We are looking forward to planning next years birthday bash!!

Capturing Your Kids Interests

June 21, 2012

Kids grow up so fast.  A great way to capture them in the moment is to photograph them doing an activity that they love or being creative with an interest that they have.  Michelle’s boys, Sam and Will are really into pirates right now.  Michelle made a pirate mast and borrowed a row boat to create the pirate scene.  Then she went to a resale store and found most of the clothes she needed to make pirate costumes.  Then she simply snapped pictures of the boys playing pirates!  This is a fun, inexpensive way to capture the kids perfectly at their current ages.
